A boutique brand for a bouldering gym.

Climber Collective is a boutique bouldering gym in Penrith, with low walls, no ropes and a warm, casual feel. It describes itself as a grass roots and inclusive bouldering community.

Bouldering has its own culture, and routes graded by colour are part of it. A gym built for that crowd had to look like it belonged there, and still welcome someone who had never touched a hold.

We built a circular wordmark and a diamond monogram that winds into itself like a maze, in a red named Climber Ochre alongside grey, charcoal and white. The monogram is also the colour grade route chart: its diamond is stacked from coloured blocks that run from easiest to hardest, so the logo icon and the grading system are one shape. Four round icons cover the gym’s services, including the ten visit pass, and the roundel went onto a canvas tote bag.

The website opens on the gym’s name over a photo of the wall. From there it covers the gym’s story and house rules, the grading chart and opening hours, and memberships with prices. The mobile pages keep the same red and charcoal.

Climber Collective has a brand that looks at home on the wall and a website that takes a climber from the homepage to a membership.
